We, members of G25 would like to congratulate Malaysia as we celebrate our 59th Malaysia Day with the theme, “TEGUH BERSAMA” and embrace another year of peace, unity, and harmony in our beloved country. We also hope that this year’s Malaysia Day will remind us of the significance of the establishment of the Malaysian federation on September 16, 1963 which marks the day the Federation of Malaya, North Borneo, Sarawak and Singapore were federated to form Malaysia. G25 wholeheartedly applauds the Constitutional (Amendment) Act of 2022 that reaffirms the position of Sabah and Sarawak as equal partners with the Federation of Malaya within the Federation of Malaysia consistent with the spirit as envisaged by the Malaysia Agreement 1963.
In these 59 years we have overcome numerous challenges together, including Covid-19 which impacted the lives of every single Malaysian. This Malaysia Day, we, G25 would like to express our deepest appreciation and gratitude towards our front-liners - doctors, nurses, the police force, the army, the private and public sectors, and the entire public for responding together throughout this global disaster. There are many lessons to be learnt, however we commend the government on the overall response to the pandemic, in particular the procurement of the COVID 19 vaccines and the massive effort to ensure that the majority of Malaysians were vaccinated which has brought the pandemic under control and allowed the country to return to normality.
As a nation, we can see how unity truly brings people together and as Tunku Abdul Rahman, the first Prime Minister of Malaysia once quoted, “We are all Malaysians. This is the bond that unites us. Let us always remember that unity is our fundamental strength as people and as a nation.” With unity being our true backbone, we in G25 believe that it is very important to always come as one, no matter how difficult or challenging circumstances may be.
It is our hope that individuals and families who have lost their jobs and income during the Covid-19 pandemic are starting fresh and anew; and that there will be more job opportunities to help those affected. With many new businesses emerging, it is also our hope that this opens doors for more youth to gain working experiences and better prepare themselves for the future.
We in G25 would like to congratulate all athletes on their achievements at the recent 2022 Commonwealth Games as this year, Malaysia hit a very high note with Team Malaysia surpassing the 6-Gold medal target. With the beautiful spirit that sports brings us, we should not forget these milestones achieved by our young sportsmen and sportswomen from all race and religious background. They made us proud.
A good education is key to the current and future success of Malaysia. With the incoming General Election, we hope that all parties make educational reforms central to their policies.
Let’s raise the Jalur Gemilang and commemorate this special day as we move forward stronger, together.
TEGUH BERSAMA. Hidup Malaysia.
